This morning’s devotional truly ‘spoke’ to me today.  Being content with God’s perfect will in my life is an area in which I continue to struggle; however, I am learning to trust in His sovereignty.

Verse of the Day:  Hebrews 13:5

“…being content with what you have…”

Thought for the Day

God has given, or allowed, everything you need to accomplish His will.

Mini Bible Study for the Day

The charge to be content is actually one of the Ten Commandments. It ranks right up there with false gods, murder and adultery.

“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet you neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
Ex. 20:17

There are too many Christians who believe that they could serve the Lord far better if they won the lottery. They think that if they just had another one of “these” or a little more of “that” they could be far more effective for the Kingdom of God. But this is thinking from hell. God has given you EVERYTHING He wants you to have at this very moment. Do you think for a moment that God couldn’t change your circumstances in a heartbeat if He wanted to?

God offers you a wonderful life right in the situation you are currently in. He offers you an abundant life if you FOLLOW Him (I Sam. 15:22, Jer. 44:23), not if you have great wealth, or more salary, or a bigger house, or a different boss, or more (or less) children.

Be thankful for what you have and don’t complain about what you don’t have.
